Kitchen Management Training to ICS promoters in Dang District  
The National ICS Network in collaboration with Human Welfare and Environment Protection Centre (HWEPC), District ICS Network coordinator of Dang district conducted a 2-day Kitchen Management Training for Improved Cook Stove Promoters of Dang district.
The training program was organized on 26-27 December 2007 at Ghorahi, Dang district. The main objective of the program was to enhance the capacity of ICS Promoters to promote better kitchen practices and raise awareness on indoor air pollution and its effect on health.
A total of 26 participants from 13 Village Development Committees (VDCs) were present in the program. Majority of the participants were ICS promoters and others were ICS users. The program was based on participatory approach with sharing and group discussion. During the training, a short field visit program to Nawalpur VDC of Dang district was also organized so as to provide the participants with real and practical idea of managed kitchen. Mr. Shyam Rai, Regional Coordinator of CRT/N-managed RRESC in Dang district was the main resource person for the training. He provided participants with the knowledge of indoor air pollution, kitchen management concept, ventilations system etc which he had gained at the “Indoor Air Pollution Monitoring & Evaluation Training and Kitchen Improvement” training in Hanoi, Vietnam. The training program was very effective in enhancing the capability of the ICS promoters to manage the kitchen of the community where ICS has already been installed or will be installed by the promoters in near future.
